Your appointment includes a focused medical history and a careful skin examination. Lesions of concern are assessed clinically and with dermoscopy. Imaging is used to document and monitor moles over time. Findings and next steps are discussed clearly at the end of your visit.
-
If a lesion requires further evaluation, a biopsy may be performed on-site when clinically appropriate. If specialist care is needed, we facilitate direct referral to ensure continuity of care. With your consent, your family physician will be informed of your assessment and follow-up plan.
-
Yes. We use secure AI digital imaging technology to document and compare moles over time. We specifically use OptimaScan. This supports accurate monitoring and helps identify subtle changes between visits. Imaging complements — but does not replace — clinical assessment and medical judgment.
-
No referral is required. Patients may self-book appointments. A valid health card is required as medically necessary biopsies are covered by OHIP.
-
Skin cancer screening services at Mark My Mole are private-pay and are not covered by OHIP. Biopsy procedures are eligible for OHIP coverage when medically indicated. Please contact the clinic if you have specific questions.
-
Some extended health benefit plans may provide reimbursement for private medical services; however, coverage varies by insurer and individual plan. Patients are encouraged to contact their insurance provider directly to confirm eligibility and reimbursement details.
-
Payment for screening services is due at the time of your appointment. We accept Visa, Mastercard, Debit Card, and Cash (exact amount required, as we are unable to provide change).
When a biopsy is medically indicated, the procedure itself is covered by OHIP and there is no additional charge for the biopsy. If you have questions about billing or coverage, our team is happy to provide clarification.

Missed appointments without 24hr notice will be charged the full appointment fee.
If you arrive more than 15 minutes late, your appointment may need to be cancelled to avoid delays for other patients. The corresponding appointment fee will apply.
